If you’ve been around here a little while, you may have noticed I’m on a bit of a terracotta bender! Aren’t these mini terracotta pots the cutest? I could think of a hundred ways to use them other than for tiny plants! They are so fun to use in craft projects.
When I glanced over and saw them sitting on my shelf the other day, I instantly remembered this DIY idea I had for them when I was drifting off to sleep the night before. These DIY Mini Terracotta Pot Doorbells are easy to whip up and, surprisingly, each pot has it’s own unique ‘ding’ sound!

DIY Mini Terracotta Pot Doorbell
You Will Need:
Mini Terracotta Pots
Clay or Wooden Beads
Cotton Rope
Needle & Thread
Firstly, I got my mini terracotta pots here. But check your local craft stores (or nursery) for similar items! Start by threading half a dozen beads onto a thread. Then, push a length of cotton rope through the hole in one of the terracotta pots, and tie a knot on the inside. Tie the length of beads onto this knot and pull the cotton rope tight.
Do this for another two pots. Lay out your three pots and braid the excess rope until you reach the end (or, however long you need it to be). Tie a knot in the end and hang your new doorbell from a hook or bracket.
You could put these terracotta pot doorbells at your front door or loop them around a door handle, so they ‘ding’ when someone walks in the door. They almost remind me of the Indian-style bell garlands that are also great as decor.
What do you think? If you’re in love with terracotta just as much as I am, check out this DIY Terracotta-dipped mugs tutorial.

Can you tell me what kind of beads you used and the size? They look like wood but I can’t imagine the sound you would get with wood. Thanks!
Hi Cheryl, I actually made them myself from clay and painted them! Wooden beads just wouldn’t be the same 🙂
